How Prayer Makes A Difference In Our Lives

How Prayer makes a Difference in Our Lives

Am in a season where God is teaching me a lot about prayer through His word, Preachers, family, friends, and blogs.

It’s the first thing He taught me when I got saved but, I must admit along the way I gave up and let other things take center stage. The good news is I made a decision to go back to what I consider as the most important practice in my Christian walk. I asked God for help and He has and is surely teaching me how to pray effectively more than ever. I am loving every moment of it, despite the ups and downs.

In this post, I want to share with you what I have learned about prayer and why this is very important in our Christian walk.

There are so many definitions about Prayer, but I like the simplified definition, it is communication with God. The reason this definition resonates with me is, communication can be done in very many different ways.

Think of it, we communicate verbally or none verbally.

When it comes to praying we praise, make our supplications, we worship God, we journal, we read the Bible, sometimes we just sit there cry and just sigh out loud God’s name. We raise our hands up, we kneel down, we command, we confess, we declare and so forth and so forth.

In short, there is no one way to pray, we can do it in different ways.

Which has made me conclude that the act of praying isn’t and shouldn’t be boring. You can pray this way today and differently tomorrow as the Spirit leads.

Choose what works for you.

Let’s dig into why prayer is important.

Through prayer, God’s Promises over your life are fulfilled.

See we are representing a Kingdom, and in every Kingdom or country, there are certain ways that things operate. For example, in the country that I live in there is a way things operate differently from my neighboring country.

In God’s Kingdom, we have promises that God, the King has given to us his children. These promises are found in His word.

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

2 Peter 1:4 (NIV)

Okay, so according to this verse, for us to participate in the divine nature, or in the things of God/Kingdom we need the promises of God.

That means the bible isn’t some book that should be opened only on Sundays No! It’s written in Psalm that the word of God is more precious than pure gold. Meaning it has value. It should be what we live by.

How does prayer come in?

It activates these promises and they get fulfilled in our lives.

Nothing will happen until you Pray.

Ever notice that one of the things that the enemy never wants you to do consistently is Pray.

Okay, it happens to me a lot!

From distractions to discouragement, to different kind of attacks, He never wants me to be a prayer warrior huh!

But, that shouldn’t stop us if anything we should be motivated to pray fervently.

Friend, you can sit there and cry, complain, meditate on your problem or you can take your position as a royal priest and pray. Yes, pray like your life depends on it because it does. Spending time with God means you are depending on Him fully.

It’s a way of turning your soul/heart to God.

The bible says that the human heart is wicked.

After the fall of man, the human heart became wicked. We need to turn to God for our hearts to align with His. It’s not something you do once. It should be a daily habit until we leave this planet.

When you don’t pray, you to start acting on your emotions.

Instead of walking according to the spirit you’ll start walking in the flesh and that means you’ll start acting on your emotion and hence start acting out.

A life full of prayer is an enjoyable life.

See, when you surrender your life to Christ when you are always seeking God’s face and counsel. When you always go boldly before God’s throne of grace in your time of need then you’ll enjoy life.

This happens because you are depending on God, who is faithful to his promises. A God who is loving, righteous, has your best interest at heart and wants you to reign in life.

You’ll be depending on a solid foundation because God doesn’t change his mind like a man. He will never let you down. His for you and not against you.

Therefore, to enjoy life, ministry, your business, marriage, singlehood, and children always pray.

Stand firm in the promises of God.

In the bible Abraham, Moses, Peter, Elijah, Daniel, Paul, Hannah, Esther not forgetting David and all the great people in the bible were prayerful. They were able to do mighty things, supernatural stuff because they Prayed.

Let’s learn from them and take our rightful places.

Let us pray until the Kingdom of God comes on earth as it is in heaven.
